Holding Patterns

Holding Patterns is a series of textile works that examines repetition as both structure and strain.

Using black thread on unbleached cloth, dense accumulations of hand-stitching distort the fabric surface, making accumulation and pressure physically visible. Stitch functions simultaneously as mark, rhythm and interruption, creating fields that oscillate between control and instability.

Fragments of text emerge only partially, resisting complete readability and disrupting straightforward interpretation. The resulting surfaces negotiate a shifting relationship between visibility and concealment, coherence and fragmentation.

Raw edges, puckered cloth and material distortions are retained as active elements within the work, recording the physical consequences of repetition over time.
